My name’s Himalaya Climax. I’m a none-binary makeup artist and fashion designer from NYC. I’m also an fashion design student in Parsons The New school. When it comes to my makeup looks, I am very much inspired by my everyday life ( what I see and feel ) as well as my cultural background( Chinese Manchu). I also like to be inspired by different techniques and looks from different forms of art then make them Himalaya Climax. I always challenge myself to create looks inspired by things far from the field of makeup / beauty..... for example... bagels... and a song I been listening to. For me it’s the perfect way to exercise my brain and boost my creativity."
Time is like water in a wet sponge , there is almost more if u squeeze it hard enough. Hahaha. I guess I’m a hard squeezer.
There is no specific “ story “ behind my makeup looks. Because every look has different inspirations. But the idea I wanna deliver through my looks is that art exists in EVERYTHING, and through creativity everything can become art. My looks are inspired by a lot of things that has nothing to do with makeup and I use a lot of unconventional materials in my looks. I’m trying to push the boundaries between makeup and other forms of art too.
Most people already have came to the agreement that there are more genders between male and female. Me myself would identify myself as non-binary if I have to. But I think of genders as a social concept. “ creating “ more boxes to keep those who didn’t feel comfortable in the two old boxes doesn’t change the fact people still trapped in boxes. No labels are need in an ideal world but it takes baby steps.
Oh my I can’t really say but I’m I was really little. Because I grew up with grandma and she is such an insane talented artist and stylist. She made such beautiful art piece including costume. I was always fascinated watching her sew. I believe that was the beginning of my passion for fashion and beauty.
My goal for the near future is to absorb all the goodness Parsons has to offer and really build my foundations to be an great artist in my future career.
